Hi, I’m Star. I’m 32 years old. And I’m only okish at cooking.
I moved states about 2 years ago. I moved with two kids, and I worked and went to school. That, combined with moving away from most of my family and friends, and being broke, led to unhealthy eating habits. Basically, we ate a lot of convenience crap foods, or we ate out a lot, when my then boyfriend (now husband) would come visit us.
I ate terribly, and I gained 60 pounds.
Now, I’m working on fixing that. But remember that whole “only okish at cooking” thing? It’s an issue.
My basic goal here is to take my journey of learning to cook mostly whole, healthy foods, and talk about the experience. ALL of it. If I get a disgusting recipe, you’ll know. If it’s too hard for me to cook, you’ll know that, too. I’m not a lifestyle blogger. My house is as disorganized as any with small children. I’m not even close to a chef. I’m more of the “canned tomato sauce and pasta thrown in water for long enough to make it edible” type. Oh. And I love sugar and carbs and cheese. And I’m going to be cutting down on all of those.
I am armed with a share in local agriculture until September and the internet. Here I go!
